How to create a color palette
A good five-color set usually starts from one base hue and a simple harmony rule — not from picking five random hex codes by eye.
1. Open the generator
- Go to the HueSnap palette tool.
- Choose a harmony mode: Random, Complementary, Analogous, Triadic, or Monochrome.
- Drag the base hue slider if you want the scheme anchored to a brand color.
2. Lock what works
- Click the lock on any swatch you want to keep.
- Hit Regenerate unlocked until the unlocked slots feel right.
- Click any swatch to copy its hex for Figma, CSS, or design notes.
3. Check contrast, then export
- Glance at the WCAG table — ratios below 4.5:1 often fail body text on that background.
- Export CSS variables, a Tailwind snippet, or a PNG strip.
